Osbornes: A Hidden Cosy Wine & Cocktail Live Music Bar in Devon

By Mikey @vanlifebymikey ·

Osbornes Cork & Cocktail is exactly that kind of place.

Right on Beer high street, it’s easy to walk past without realising what’s inside. But once you step through the door, everything changes. The lighting softens, the music kicks in, and suddenly you’re in this cosy, slightly hidden-feeling cocktail and wine bar that just works.

It’s got a real mix to it — a bit blues bar, a bit jazz lounge, a bit stylish cocktail spot — but still completely relaxed and unpretentious.

And that’s what makes it.

It’s run by Jane and Pete, a genuinely lovely local couple from Beer, and you feel that straight away. There’s no forced vibe here. Just a warm welcome, good conversation, and a place that feels like it belongs exactly where it is.

Evenings are where Osbornes really comes into its own.

Live music is a big part of what they do, with regular blues and jazz nights that bring a completely different energy to the village. It’s intimate — you’re close to the music, close to the atmosphere — and it feels a world away from bigger venues.

It’s the kind of place where you go for one drink and end up staying far longer than planned.

The drinks are a big part of that too.

Cocktails are done properly — simple, balanced, and well made. There’s a strong wine selection, champagne if you’re marking something special (or just treating yourself), and it all fits perfectly with the relaxed but slightly elevated feel of the place.

And then there’s the food.

Wood-fired pizza, and really good pizza at that. Not a huge menu, but exactly what you want alongside a drink and live music. Easy, social, and perfect for settling in for the evening.

What we love is how Osbornes adds something different to Beer.

You’ve got the traditional pubs like The Barrel of Beer, Beer – A Proper Local Pub and The Anchor Inn, Beer – A Pub with One of the Best Views Around, which are part of what makes the village so special. But Osbornes gives you that slightly more tucked-away, evening feel — somewhere to go for music, atmosphere, and a different pace.

It fits perfectly into a weekend stay itinerary here.

You might spend the day exploring the coastline or following one of The Best Jurassic Coast Walks from Beer, Devon, grab something relaxed earlier in the evening, and then head here to finish the night properly.

Or plan your visit around a live music night — that’s when it’s at its best.

If you’re looking for somewhere that feels a bit more hidden, a bit more personal, and a bit different from the usual — this is one to find.
